It is my very first time to be an editor in an assignment or a project, and also my very first time to take a challenge to complete a slip screem video.
It is hard for me to do the edting because we did not plan nicely for the shooting part, so when it comes to editing, the time and the movement of two characters are not match and not be reasonable. Other than that, I have another assignments need to complete as well.
After the first try of doing a slipt screen production, I learned that we need to plan very well for the shooting part, plan about the movement and also the time consuming. So that will be easier for editor to complete the tasks. I am worry that I could not finish my job since i have limited time.

Shooting for Short Clip
24th July 2015
My coursemates and I had a discussion for short clip after class, At first, we have no any ideas at all, slowly, we came out with some ideas and combined it to become a complete and interesting storyline.
We divided our jobs clearly because we have no enough time and crew, and we listed down all the shots, scenes, and props as well.
25th July 2015
My coursemates and I met in an empty classroom after we had our test for another subject, we set up our equipment and props. We took around 5 hours to finish our shooting, we started around 11 am and ended around 4 pm.
Three of us are exhausted because we have many other assignments and projects need to complete before August, all heavy works due together and made us suffer.
We will start the editing for this short clip the next day, and hopefully we can produce an interesting video.

Tutorial through Skype
22nd July 2015
Today my group members and I had a tutorial session by Johny and Mark through Skype. My others two coursemates and I actually skip our lecture class to attend this tutorial session because the time was a clash with each other.
We inform our progress to Johny and Mark, they gave us much feedback to let us improve our works too. Johny and Mark also suggested my coursemates and I, which are from broadcasting, to produce a short clip or promotion video since our group is producing an animation, and it is irrelevant with broadcasting.
After the tutorial session by Johny and Mark were ended, my coursemates and I stay back and discuss for the short clip that Johny and Mark had suggested us to do. We felt suffer and no confidence on it at all because 31st of July is the submission date. My coursemates and I came out with nothing after the discussion and we decided to have a brainstorm after back to our home or hostel.

First Meeting
14th July 2016
My group had a short meeting today, we divided our works based on the timetable that we done last week. I hope our group can work well and finish all the works on time based on the timetable that we set.
We decided to create a private Facebook group, to let us easier to have discussion although we had a group chat in Facebook, but it's hard for us to review back all the conversation that we discussed about.
Two members absented for meeting today, I noted down all the points that we discussed and informed them the latest situation and progress.

Day-5 of CCCP3 Workshop
Today was the last day of the workshop, my group members and I gather at school around 8.30am. We were planning to practice for the presentation before that. But at the end, we do not have time to practice.
All students gather at lecture 9 o’clock sharp, after that the presentation starts from group A immediately. My group members and I was so surprised and worried about our presentation since we do not practice it. Johny gathers our group members and calms us down.
As my group leader said, the greatest challenges in this workshop were we are the first group to present in the early morning. Luckily our presentation went well and we were fully used the 15 minutes time to present all of the information.
After all the groups done their presentation, we went to an empty place to take group photo with all the lecturers from University of Salford. We took so many pictures as Mark said that we are selfie crazy. It was a great experience because we have created a lot of memorable moment together. I am really glad that I have the chance to participate in this workshop.
Day-4 of CCCP3 Workshop
Today was the second last day of the workshop, it was also a productive day because we need to prepare for Friday’s presentation. Nothing much to describe, we work really hard to achieve our goals.
Johny briefed us how to prepare Power Point slides for presentation. A good presentation does not need many slides in Power Point and a good slide should not contain many words. My friends and I take the responsibility to prepare the slide, this is the very first time I felt so difficult to preparing a slide.
My group members from Multimedia continue to complete the short animation, group members from Graphic Design came out with our group logo and continue to work on the ideas of posters and also flyers.
After finished the slides, I went outside the room to take a breath and had a conversation with Johny, so he asked me to relax and that I should not be stressed. His words calm me and make me feel much better.
My group members and I continue to work at home after the workshop, we encourage each other and build each other up to make sure that we will do well for the presentation tomorrow.
Day-3 of CCCP3 Workshop
Today is the third day of the CCCP3 workshop, many students were late to class, and I felt shame about it because Johny have already mentioned that the workshop would start at 9 am sharp. As what Johny said ‘If you reach early, that means you’re better than on time. If you’re on time, means you’re late and you’re fired.’
Johny and Mark briefed us what to prepare for Friday’s presentation and told us these two days were the productive days, we will have many things need to prepare. They also told us that we would need to have a pre-presentation to them according to the group after lunch hour.
When my group was preparing all the materials for presentation later, Johny came and asked about our storyline. After we present our storyline to him, he advised us to change the storyline because our storyline has touched some sensitive issues and it was a sad story. He told us as a company, we do not sell or promote things that audiences might dislike.
The original storyboard.
After we heard what Johny said, my group members and I felt very upset as we do not have much time left to prepare for the pre-presentation later because we will be the first group that needs to present. I made a little bit amendment for our storyline and asked the opinions of my group members, at the end, we changed our storyline, draw and write another storyboard, proposal, and script.
We divided our jobs equally and work things out together. My group was managed to do all the preparations for the pre-presentation and get an amber grade. After the pre-presentation, our group started to prepare the short animation for Friday’s presentation since the animation has to take a long time to finish. Our group leader Daniel; who is from broadcasting course started to sketch the main character of our story on the paper. After that, our group members from Multimedia trace the character into the software. Also, our group members from Graphic Design also started to discuss and design our logo, posters as well as flyers for our story.
Pre-presentation.
After the workshop, I have to attend another meeting for another assignment with my classmates, and then we went dinner together to release our stress. I felt worn out once I reached home, I stressed about having a few projects and assignments going on that need to finish at the same time and I try to overcome it.
Tired faces.

Day-2 of CCCP3 Workshop
My coursemates and I were looking forward to the coming events of the workshop because we have the opportunity to discover and learn something new every day.
Today, we form a new group again with students from Multimedia and Graphic Design Course. I was arranged to team A which form by three students from Broadcasting including me whereas the other two students from Multimedia and two students from Graphic Design.
The first lecturer who consulted us was Robin, he taught us how to start a proposal or pitch, and produce a good story with beginning, middle and ending. After that, Robin asked us to discuss and pick one of the titles (Never make the same journey twice, you are where you have been, gagging for adventure, the closer you look the more you’ll find and essence of being Manchunian), we picked ‘The closer you look, the more you’ll find’ as our title, and also discuss about the storyline of our story.
At first, I feel displeasure and unhappy with this group because we do not even introduce each other and we do not really work well as a group. My two male members discuss among themselves and do not bother the other members at all, I told them not to discuss each other but discuss with all the group members. Slowly, we come out with our ideas and give an opportunity to everyone to voice out their own opinions and also ideas, and then we started to work as a team. Teamwork is really important when it comes to group work.
During Mark’s class, we learned about the basic ideas and knowledge of typography. At first, I felt so boring because I am not interested in this topic and I actually prefer to have a class with Robin since he was a lecturer that in the broadcasting field. But when Mark gave us a task which each group has to draw a graphical mind map to describe our daily life by using typography and sounds to represent it, it catches my attention in this task.
The last task in Day-2 that we have to do was to draw a storyboard for our story. Johny gave us lots of opinion for our storyline and my group members and I have fun communicate with each other while completing the tasks.

Day-1 of CCCP3 Workshop
Today was the first day of Creative, Communication, and Collaborative Practice 3 Workshop, it recalled me the great memories that I spent with Johny, Roy, Danny and Lloyd seven months ago.
Lecturers from the University of Salford have a meeting with people in charge in TARUC before the workshop, so my friends and I took many photos while waiting for them.
At first, Johny introduces the other three lecturers to us and ask us to form groups for activity. My coursemates and I formed the groups one day before the workshop, but since Johny has a new instruction to form new groups so we followed what he asked to. We divided into four groups by calling the numbers from one to four and I was under Gemma's group. Gemma briefed us what to do about the task, we need to do research, find out the features of North-West of England, which are Manchester and Salford. Soon, we are separated into four or five people in a group and started our research.
My group has come out with a title that is 'How to become a Mancunian' and chosen 'Diversity', 'Speed', 'The Heat', 'Tongue Teaser' and 'H2O' as our key terms, which represent different cultures in China Town, Rolls Royce motor cars, the football competitions, the foods and also the brewery. My group has decided that all of us have to present in front of the lecture hall. We also make sure that we have practice and prepare for the presentation on upcoming Friday.
My group members and I: Thomas, May, me, Vinxy, Alice.
Before the lecturers leave, my friends and I asked Johny some questions about the individual work which what to write in the blog. Johny briefed us what to do and asked us to describe ‘what you did, what went well, what went less well, what would you do difficult?’ in the blog.
I am really happy to meet all the students who take TARUC and UoS dual awards again, we coordinate with others and work together after such long time. At the same time, I also worried about I might not catch up with the progress because my English is weak especially when it comes to conversation. The things we learn and did in the workshop are totally different from what we did in our classes, it is a whole new experience and it is also an interesting way for learning.
